American actor and rapper, Will Smith has emerged as the winner of the best actor category in the just ended Critics Choice Awards 2022.

The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards is an award show presented annually by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Written ballots are submitted during a week-long nominating period, and the resulting nominees are announced in December.

As published in our previously published post regarding the awards, the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards came off on Sunday night, March 13, 2022, at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California, and the Savoy Hotel in London.

Will Smith won the best actor of the year category after beating four other great actors who were nominated in the same category with him with 2021 released American biographical sports drama film titled “King Richard”.

Will beat the likes of Nicolas Cage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage, Andrew Garfield, and finally Denzel Washington to win actor of the year at 2022 Critics Choice Awards

About King Richard Movie

King Richard is a 2021 American biographical sports drama film directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and written by Zach Baylin. It follows the life of Richard Williams, the father and coach of famed tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, who were executive producers of the film.

It stars Will Smith in the title role, with Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn, and Jon Bernthal.

It premiered at the 48th Telluride Film Festival on September 2, 2021, and was theatrically released on November 19, 2021 by Warner Bros. Pictures and on the HBO Max streaming service.

It has grossed $37 million against a budget of $50 million and received positive reviews from critics, with praise for the screenplay and the performances of Smith, Ellis and Sidney.

It was named one of the best films of 2021 by the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review; the latter also awarded Best Actor to Smith and Best Supporting Actress to Ellis
