Steve Harwell, the erstwhile maestro of rock ensemble Smash Mouth, now finds himself under the gentle ministrations of hospice care.
A spokesperson for Harwell, aged 56, asseverates to The Hollywood Reporter that he currently rests in the bosom of his domicile, where he is tenderly tended to by his betrothed and the hospice caretakers.
Alas, Steve, although still among us, is fated to grace our presence but fleetingly, as the spokesperson somberly appends.
As initially disclosed by TMZ, Harwell has grappled with the demons of alcoholism for an extended span, culminating in the terminal throes of liver failure.

It is worth noting that in 2013, Harwell was also beset by the diagnosis of cardiomyopathy, which subsequently precipitated acute Wernicke encephalopathy.
The grand conductor of melody bade adieu to the ensemble’s stage in 2021, as per a proclamation from the spokesperson, citing Harwell’s protracted tryst with debilitating health tribulations. In his stead, Zach Goode assumed the mantle of lead vocalist in 2022, allowing Smash Mouth’s melodious journey to persist unabated.
