Speedy Ortiz are back with Scabs, their first new song since 2018. Its also the first Speedy Ortiz song to feature longtime touring bassist Audrey Zee Whitesides and drummer Joey Doubek, who are now full-time band members alongside songwriter, guitarist, and singer Sadie Dupuis and guitarist Andy Molholt. Speedy Ortiz co-produced Scabs with engineer and mixer Sarah Tudzin (of Illuminati Hotties). They recorded the song at Joshua Trees Rancho de La Luna and El Pasos Sonic Ranch.
Scabs follows Speedy Ortizs 2018 album, Twerp Verse. Dupuis more recently released Haunted Painting as Sad13.
