Savannah Chrisley reveals she “took a bottle of pills” when she attempted suicide as a teenager.
Five months after first revealing she once tried to take her own life, the former reality star detailed what happened with Dr. Daniel Amen on Tuesday’s episode of her “Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley” podcast.
The “Growing Up Chrisley” alum explained she swallowed a bunch of pills, but, “Obviously [it] didn’t work because I’m sitting here today thank God.
“But ever since then I feel like with my brain, my memory, it’s the most frustrating thing in the world because it feels so foggy,” the 25-year-old continued.
Chrisley previously credited preacher Joel Osteen with “kinda saving” her because her dad, Todd Chrisley, showed her a Romans 8:28 devotional the morning after her suicide attempt.
“It stated that through whatever hardships and adversities you go through, God’s gonna turn around and use it to your advantage,” she recalled in a November 2022 podcast episode.
Savannah added at the time that her mindset changed “in a snap of a finger.”
She said, “I went from this anger towards God to in my heart saying, ‘All right, God, you know what, why not me?’ Like, ‘What makes me any better to have to go through these things than anyone else?’”
Two months later, Savannah told her listeners that she “tried committing suicide as a teenager” for “a multitude of” reasons, including “the things people would say.”
Her family “hid it so well,” and “no one knew” that the then-teen had entered “game-chang[ing]” intensive therapy.
When Savannah’s ex-fianc, Nic Kerdiles, attempted suicide in February 2022 by holding a gun to his chin and then to his head, she supported him in an Instagram video with Todd.
With the since-deleted social media upload, the trio hoped to take Kerdile’s “power back.”

The Chrisley family patriarch, who is now serving a 12-year federal prison sentence, said at the time that “mental illness should not be made fun of [and] should not be taken lightly.”
He added, “We should do everything in our power to lift those who are struggling up, not pay them to tear someone down.
Savannah noted that Kerdiles wasn’t given the “luxury” of sharing his story before it went public, which she referred to as “another form of trauma.”
