In a Twitter thread, the Denver Police Department claimed that Hagerty attacked an officer who was responding to a welfare check at 12:30 a.m. The musician allegedly [ripped] off [the officers] police badge and then [used] it to cut the officer.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Denver Gazzette, Hagerty also allegedly attempted to disarm [a] second officer by attempting to pull [the] office[r]s Taser from the holster.
The three officers involved suffered cuts and abrasions during the struggle. All have been released from the hospital, the Denver Police Department claimed.
Neil Michael Hagerty formed Royal Trux in the late 1980s with Jennifer Herrema. They parted ways in 2001 before reuniting in 2015. A few years later, Royal Trux reissued their catalog and released a new album, White Stuff, before effectively disbanding again. Hagerty released the Howling Hex album Knuckleball Express in 2020.
