Two employees of Pizzaman, Seidu Karim and Rashid Abdullah, have been sentenced to 5 years in prison for stealing chicken and cooking oil from the company’s warehouse in Kumasi, Ghana.
The theft involved 20 boxes of chicken wings and two gallons of cooking oil.
The executive chef of Pizzaman received a call from the warehouse manager on May 1, 2023, reporting the theft. Upon investigation, the stolen items were found in the possession of the accused workers.
During the trial, Rashid Abdullah admitted to seeing Seidu Karim hiding two gallons of Oki cooking oil behind the fence wall, while Seidu Karim claimed to have seen Rashid Abdullah hiding two boxes of chicken wings at the back of the fence wall.
Further investigations revealed that Seidu Karim had been stealing Oki cooking oil from the company for two months.
The accused workers were charged with the offence and were sentenced to 5 years imprisonment in hard labour each by the Kwadaso Circuit Court.
The case serves as a reminder that theft in the workplace is a serious offence that can lead to severe consequences.
