Popular Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, known as Medikal, has revealed that the extravagant lifestyle he portrays on social media is purely for show.
During a live Twitter spaces discussion with Cookie Tee, the “Too Risky” hitmaker was questioned about the wealth, cars, and houses he often displays on his social media platforms. He clarified that all of those are merely props used to enhance his brand and should not be taken seriously.
Medikal likened his social media persona to popular Hollywood movies, explaining that just like how action heroes like Rambo are shown with guns and intense scenes, while in reality, they might be relaxing on a vacation in The Bahamas, his online presence is also an illusion. He admitted that his fans are aware of this fact.
He stated, “It’s all props, like the Rambo movie. You see him with guns, shooting and killing, but in real life, he’s in The Bahamas chilling. That’s how it is. So what you see on social media is an illusion. It’s just my brand. I don’t have anything. My fans know that whatever I don’t own, I won’t claim it as my own. I’m not rich, I’m trying to survive. I’m a hustler just like everyone else.”
Medikal’s honesty sheds light on the concept of creating a larger-than-life persona on social media platforms, emphasizing that it should be taken with a grain of salt.
