Jada Pinkett Smith recently shared some surprising news about her marriage to Will Smith. She revealed that they’ve actually been living separately for seven years, even though most people didn’t know.
This revelation has caught many people off guard, including their fans. In a recent interview with Hoda Kotb, Jada explained that they’ve been apart since 2016. They’ve been leading very separate lives but chose to keep it a secret from the rest of the world.
For a long time, there have been rumors and questions about their marriage, with some suggesting they had an open relationship. In a part of the interview that’s set to air on October 13, Jada clarified that they’re not legally divorced but they have broken up.
Jada also explained why they kept this separation hidden from the public. She said they weren’t ready to reveal it and were still trying to figure out how to navigate their relationship and explain it to people.
When Hoda Kotb asked Jada what caused the end of their romantic relationship, Jada said, “Why it fractured … that’s a lot of things…By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
Jada Pinkett Smith, who is 52, and Will Smith, who is 55, got married in 1997 and have two grown-up children together, Jaden, who is 25, and Willow, who is 22. Will also has an older son, Trey Smith, from his previous marriage to actress Sheree Zampino.
