Ghanaian rapper E.L. has admitted to fabricating his story about working as a delivery man in the United States.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, E.L. confessed that he was seeking attention and decided to create a stunt.
A few months ago, the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year revealed in an interview on 3Music TV that there was a time in his life when he had to work as a food delivery person in the US to sustain himself. He also claimed that this experience taught him the value of humility.
However, E.L. now admits that it was all made up and that he never worked as a delivery person.
“Andy, let me be completely honest with you, my brother. The whole thing was part of an agenda we planned. I didn’t intend to do it, but sometimes you get carried away in the heat of the moment,” he explained in Pidgin.
E.L. further clarified that he had initially intended to do something like that but never actually worked as a delivery person.
The rapper sincerely apologized for the publicity stunt, acknowledging that it was an attention-seeking move influenced by some individuals around him.
He expressed regret and acknowledged that it was not the right thing to do. Nevertheless, he recognized that it gained attention and became a trending topic.
After signing to Jayso’s Skillions Records during his first year in university and co-producing the Skillionaires Demotape, E.L. went on to pursue a solo career after the Skillions disbanded following his graduation. He invested in studios and equipment to continue his music journey.
