Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has publicly accused a daughter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of involving herself in a matter that could potentially create a conflict between him and his industry rival, Stonebwoy.
During a Facebook live session on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Shatta Wale alleged that officials from the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the president’s daughter, whom he chose not to name, have attempted to allow Stonebwoy to host a show at the Accra Sports Stadium on a date when Shatta Wale already has an event scheduled at the same venue.
According to Shatta Wale, his Freedom Wave Concert, planned for December 20 to 26, 2023, is at risk of cancellation because the NSA, following the alleged directive of the president’s daughter, has decided to grant the Accra Sports Stadium to Stonebwoy for his event on December 22, just three days before Shatta Wale’s own concert at the stadium.
“When we are telling you that the action you are taking will lead to a problem, because if Stonebwoy’s show takes place on the 22nd, it will spill over into the 23rd. How many days do you want us to use for our setup and festivities?” Shatta Wale expressed in Pidgin.
Shatta Wale emphasized that Stonebwoy’s event date will not allow enough time for him and his team to adequately set up for the climax of the Freedom Wave Concert. He questioned the justification for the alleged intervention of the president’s daughter in this matter.
“I am a street boy, a playboy, a tough guy. Do you understand me? When I speak the truth, I don’t fear anyone. The president’s daughter called the Prof at the stadium and spoke to him, my friend,” Shatta Wale continued.
“Madam, if this is how you operate, and you want to utilize your father’s power to govern the country, remember the country does not solely belong to your father. This country is not your father’s personal property. Don’t make decisions without giving them deeper thought and questioning how the message was conveyed to you.”
“Just because your father is the president, do you think you can make decisions on behalf of the citizens? Are you playing games? Do you think anyone fears in this country? We are not afraid of anyone. We are tired of the nonsensical things you people do,” Shatta Wale lamented.
He further accused the president’s daughter of interfering in irrelevant matters while cautioning Stonebwoy against any apparent attempt to sabotage his show or engage in competition with him.
“The president’s daughter. Look at what she is doing. Ghanaians are suffering, yet you are fighting over a stadium for your show, something you have little knowledge about. You speak about things you don’t understand. That’s how you people are. You can all take advantage of the country,” Shatta Wale expressed his frustration.
